Chevrolet to welcome BrightDrop electric vans

From now on, BrightDrop commercial vans will be sold under the Chevrolet banner. The American manufacturer makes no secret of the fact that it wants to compete with the Ford and Rivian brands, already well established in this niche.

Ford has also confirmed the forthcoming arrival of an even more advanced electric van, as part of its new electrification strategy.

The name BrightDrop is not new. The vehicles have been sold under other names since 2021, first as an independent brand and then under the wing of GM’s Envolve division. It’s a simple migration to the Chevrolet banner.

The brand offers two electric vans, the Zevo 400 and 600 (whose names are based on the number of cubic feet available), already used by major transport companies such as FedEx, Ryder and DHL, and other local businesses. However, General Motors’ management believes that a wider distribution network for the Chevrolet brand should lead to a marked increase in sales.

“The addition of BrightDrop electric vans to Chevrolet’s growing portfolio of electric vehicles will give BrightDrop customers access to one of the industry’s largest and most extensive commercial sales and service networks, and strengthens the brand’s growth opportunities,” says Scott Bell, viced-president of General Motors.

BrightDrop vans, which share the Ultium platform with General Motors’ other electric vehicles, can boast a range of over 450 kilometers, and a capacity of over 614 cubic feet depending on the version selected. They are assembled at CAMI’s Ingelsoll plant in Ontario. BrightDrop commercial vans will join the Chevrolet fleet early next year, with the arrival of the 2025 models.
